RESUME
I do art because I have to. My art is an extension of myself — my interests in social dynamics, history, and alternative subcultures permeate into everything I do.
My core belief is that costuming influences everything around it, from the final aesthetic of the show to the quality of the performance. As costumes are so intimately involved with the performer, I love exploring new methods of communication in the hierarchical world of theatre production. At the end of the day, I hope to be a positive force that works towards creating a comfortable atmosphere for everyone involved in the process. I have independently explored this curiosity with a thesis project focused on creating best practices when working with nonbinary performers. Theatre is never an individual act, and therefore, we as costumers are uniquely positioned to make or break the creative experience. There is no compromise to be made that would ruin a project.
I always set out to catch people off guard (in a good way) by making pieces that are exciting and unexpected. I always seek to create something beautiful, because creating beauty from my own hands is the most incredible feeling in the world.
